Ways To Remember Your Pet

When faced with the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye to your fur baby, whether that be due to old age or illness, you may be wondering about things you can do to memorialize them. You want to find something that will help you remember them and help you during the grief process. There are so many amazing ways that you can honour, cherish and remember your best friend long after they’ve crossed the rainbow bridge. I have put together a small list below to help give you some ideas:

1. A ‘Celebration of Life’ Photoshoot

Celebration of life photoshoots are a great way to capture those last beautiful images of your pet. They will capture your pets unique personality and quirks for you to remember, and if you’re up to it you can go in the photos too so that the special bond that you share can also be captured. These keepsakes are such a beautiful way to cherish those memories long after your pet is gone. It can help you during the grieving process by having those memories to look back on.

2. Ink Pawprints

This is often a service that your vet can offer. Beautiful ink prints of your dogs pawprints on paper are something to cherish. You can have them framed or scanned onto your computer or phone.

3. Memorial Jewellery

You can use your pets pawprints to have a pawprints pendant made, or If you choose to have your pet cremated, a lot of cremation companies will also offer pendants with ashes in a pendant for you to wear.

4. Donations

You could donate to a pet charity in your pets honour. Some shelters will even do a plaque in your pets name to say that a donation was made in their honour. This is a beautiful way to honour your fur baby whilst also helping less fortunate cats and dogs.

5. Planting a tree

Planting a tree in your garden is a beautiful way to remember your pet. You can plant a tree in an area of your garden that your pet loved to sit and every time you see that tree you will be reminded of them.

These are just a few memorial ideas for pets. There are so many options out there! Not one thing suits everyone, it is a very unique thing and everyone handles grief and loss differently.
